What famous artists use DistroKid?
The best-documented names are 21 Savage, Ludacris, Will Smith and Tom Waits, from a 2018 announcement by a DistroKid investor.
That list comes from Silversmith Capital’s Oct 9, 2018 press release about its investment in DistroKid. It calls them “international superstars” among DistroKid’s customers. Keep two things in mind. It’s an investor talking up a company it just bought into, and it’s eight years old. DistroKid doesn’t publish a current roster, and big artists often put out some music themselves and the rest through a label.
The earliest chart story is Jack & Jack. TechCrunch reported in Aug 2015 that the Omaha duo’s album Calibraska, released through DistroKid, debuted at #1 on the iTunes charts and reached No. 12 on Billboard.
One famous name gets attached to DistroKid by mistake. Lil Nas X first put out “Old Town Road” through Amuse, not DistroKid, per Music Business Worldwide, before he signed with Columbia Records.
Skip the lists that name dozens of stars with stream counts and no sources. Most of them copy each other.
A star on the roster doesn’t change what DistroKid costs or does for you. You get the same upload form and the same yearly fee. Our DistroKid review covers who it actually suits, and RouteNote vs DistroKid compares it with a free option.
