Why did DistroKid charge me $40?

It’s almost always a yearly renewal, either your DistroKid plan or an extra you added to a release. DistroKid’s help page on charges says an unexpected charge is “typically” the annual fee or album extras renewing.

Everything renews once a year, on the date you signed up for it. Our DistroKid pricing breakdown covers every plan and add-on in full.

The plans on DistroKid’s pricing page are $24.99 a year for Musician, $44.99 for Musician Plus and $89.99 for Ultimate. Musician Plus is the closest match to a $40 charge. Sales tax can add a bit on top, depending on where you live.

Extras renew yearly too. These are the ones on DistroKid’s album extras page most likely to be in the mix:

  • Social Media Pack: $4.95 per single, $14.95 per album
  • Store Maximizer: $7.95 per album
  • Cover Song Licensing: $12 per cover
  • Discovery Pack: $0.99 per song

A Musician plan plus a Social Media Pack on one album comes to $39.94. That’s the other way to land just under $40.

To see exactly what you paid for, click your profile picture in the top right and open Receipts. Each charge names the plan or extra it’s for.

Don’t just let the plan lapse to stop the charges. When it isn’t renewed, DistroKid takes your music down, unless that release has Leave a Legacy.
