How much does a Meta-to-Spotify ad campaign cost, and what listener retention should I expect?

It costs whatever budget you set. Nobody publishes a reliable cost per Spotify listener or a retention benchmark, so you’ll measure both yourself.

Meta’s ad pricing page recommends a budget of at least $5 and a run of more than six days. That’s advice, not a floor. The auction decides what each click costs, and Meta can spend up to 75% over your daily budget on a given day while keeping the week under 7 times it.

Here’s the catch. Meta can’t see streams. Its pixel goes on a website you control, and Spotify isn’t yours, so Ads Manager stops at the click. The cost-per-listener numbers you’ll find online come from ad sellers’ own case studies.

Judge retention in Spotify for Artists instead. Open the song, go to Segmentation, then Source of Streams. Paid listeners who stuck around show up later in “Listener’s own playlists and library.”

Then check Audience, then Segments. Spotify’s segments page defines Super listeners as 15 or more plays in 28 days and Moderate listeners as 3 to 14. If those groups grow and hold after the ads stop, the campaign worked.

Before you spend, read Meta’s boosting rules for Instagram, since reels with licensed music can’t be boosted. Run the ads yourself, and skip anyone who promises a stream count. Spotify treats guaranteed streams as fake.
