Why do my ad streams drop on weekends?
Nobody can confirm one reason, but check Meta first: it doesn’t spend a daily budget evenly, so weekend clicks can fall before any listener does.
Meta’s page on daily budgets calls your daily budget a spending target over a week running Sunday to Saturday. Meta may spend up to 75% more on days with better opportunities and less on others.
Meta’s auction page says it runs an auction every time it can show someone an ad, and every advertiser targeting that person competes. More competition, pricier clicks. Meta’s pacing page says it holds budget back for times when lower-cost results are likely. Meta doesn’t say which days those are for your audience.
Break your results down by day in Ads Manager and put spend and link clicks next to your daily streams in Spotify for Artists. If a day looks shifted, Spotify’s days run on UTC.
- Spend or clicks drop on weekends: it’s delivery, and streams follow.
- Clicks hold but streams drop: it’s on the listening side. Spotify doesn’t explain weekend habits, so any theory there is a guess.
Don’t change the budget every Friday to chase it. The daily budgets page says changes like budget adjustments can put an ad set back into the learning phase, which can push costs up at first. Our FAQ on Meta ads for Spotify covers judging listeners over a full week.
