Why doesn't our collab show on both artist profiles?
Usually because one of you is credited as a featured artist, which puts the release under Appears On instead of the main discography. The other common cause is the release landing on the wrong profile.
RouteNote’s help page on Appears On says featured artists, remixers and vocal features show up there. It also warns that 4 or more primary, remixer or “with” artists can turn the release into a Various Artists release.
For a real collab, the uploader lists both of you as primary artists. DistroKid’s collaboration guide says a single has to carry the collab at the album level, typed into the “Artist/band name” field as “You & Them” or “You x Them.” On a multi-track release, pick “Additional Primary Artist” for that track instead of “Featured Artist.” To fix a live release, use “Edit release” and expect 1 to 2 weeks.
The artist ID matters as much as the role. If the uploader skips your collaborator’s Spotify link in the “Artist mapping” section, the song can end up on a stranger’s page or a brand new one. That’s the wrong-profile fix.
There’s a newer cause too. If your collaborator has Artist Profile Protection turned on, DistroKid’s page on pre-approval keys says the release waits for their approval unless you entered their key at upload.
A featured artist also won’t see the song in Upcoming, so they can’t pitch it.
