How do I merge duplicate profiles or separate two artists with the same name?

Spotify’s help center has no merge form, so a duplicate profile gets merged through your distributor or Spotify for Artists support. Two artists stuck on one profile is the opposite problem, with its own fix.

Duplicates usually start with metadata. One release went out as “Jay Kay,” the next as “JayKay.” Or you switched distributors and skipped the artist link on the new upload form. Spotify had no ID to match, so it built a second page.

Start with your distributor. RouteNote’s page on merging Spotify profiles says it can request the merge when both profiles use the exact same name, and can help merge stats and followers after a name change. On DistroKid, the Fixer maps your releases to an existing page. DistroKid’s page on missing releases says it also locks your correct Spotify artist URI to your account, so future uploads land in the right place. Spotify typically takes up to 5 days.

If two distributors are involved, ask both, or contact Spotify for Artists support. Spotify doesn’t publish how it picks the surviving profile.

Separating is different. If a stranger with your name is on your page, follow the wrong-profile fix. Spotify’s Artist Profile Protection lets you remove yourself from releases that aren’t yours, but it’s in beta for a limited group of artists. For a planned name change, read changing your artist name on DistroKid.
